The Rube Goldberg Machine Contest (RGMC) is a challenge of creativity, ingenuity, and teamwork all rolled into one! A STEAM competition for the 21st century that pits student teams against each other to create a fantastical Rube Goldberg Machine built from everyday objects that solves the annual task.
The 2026 task is OPEN A BOX.
The host's main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
--Selecting Event Staff
--Advertising Your Competition
--Funding/Running Your Event
All participating teams at Regional/International competitions are invited to attend the World Championship held in May 2026 at Purdue University.
How to Host
- CHOOSE VENUE: Determine how many teams can fit in your venue. Allow approximately 15' x 15' for each team.
- CHOOSE CONTEST DATES: All Regional Contests MUST happen between February 15, 2026, and April 30, 2026, to allow teams to participate at the RGMC World Championship on May 16, 2026.
- REGISTER YOUR EVENT: You must pay a $25 hosting fee when you register. Once we receive your registration, you will be sent the Hosting Materials folder, which includes the Hosting Manual. Please read the hosting manual thoroughly so that you can adequately prepare for your event.
